Cameron is a native of Kannapolis, North Carolina and received his
Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte where he studied choral conducting, rehearsal methods, and
pipe organ. He also has extensive knowledge in instrumental music with
both band and orchestra, playing trumpet for many years before and
during college. Since college, he has served in various churches
throughout the greater Charlotte area including Baptist, Episcopal,
Lutheran, and Presbyterian churches. Cameron currently serves as the
Director of Music at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden,
SC.
Spreading the word of Jesus and inspiring
others to lift up their voices in praise to God has been the focal point
of his ministry. Cameron's earliest musical influence was his
grandfather (papaw), who enjoyed playing old-timey country music on
guitar with his friends, who were all a part of The Greatest Generation.
One of Cameron's fondest memories is sitting around every Thursday
night with papaw and his friends, singing and sometimes joining them on
the washtub bass.
Aside from music and church,
Cameron has a huge passion for history, especially the time periods of
the American Civil War and both World Wars. One of his favorite things
to do is to take trips with his dad to battlefields and historical sites
throughout the country.
