Music

Lyttleton Street church cherishes a rich and enduring history of excellence in music and worship. Our broad-ranging music ministry includes classical choral works and hymnody through contemporary praise songs. Since all of our ensembles are un-auditioned, our music program presents opportunities for all who are interested to participate, regardless of age, experience, and even membership.


There are many opportunities to support and participate in the musical life of this congregation. If you are interested supporting our Music for Mission concerts, Wonderful Wednesday program, or feel led to participate in any of our ensembles, please contact our Director of Music, Cameron Lambert.

  • Chancel Choir

    Age: Middle School and older

    Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (August - May)

    Director: Cameron Lambert


    This group leads singing at our traditional worship service from August through June. Additionally, they present at least one major work - usually choral/orchestral - each year.

  • Chancel Bells

    Age: High School and older

    Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. - 6:55 p.m. (September - May)

    Director: Cameron Lambert


    The five-octave Chancel Bells ring approximately once monthly in worship, and on invitation for community events.

  • Contemporary Worship Team

    Age: Middle School and older

    Rehearsals:

    Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall

    Sundays, 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall

    The Contemporary Worship Team is the resident ensemble for our modern service currently taking place in the Fellowship Hall at 11:15 am. This group strives to lead worship through empowering the congregation through God's love and through leading songs that may be traditional, modern, or a blend of both.

  • Youth Bells

    Age: 6th - 12th grade

    Rehearsals: Sundays, 5:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (August - May)

    Directors: Cameron Lambert and Emily Catoe


    These youths ring repertoire up to a difficulty level 3.  Enrollment varies between 3 and 5 octaves from year to year, and there are typically two ensembles - High School Bells and Middle School Bells. A rehearsal and worship schedule is provided during the first UMYF meeting.


    Members of these ensemble generally participate in LSUMC's United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF).


    All of our ministries involving children and youth adhere to our Safe Sanctuary Policy.

  • YOUTH CHOIR

    Age: 6th - 12th grade

    Rehearsals: Sundays, 4:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. (August - May)

    Is your youth interested in singing? Come join our new Youth Choir! Following a similar rehearsal and worship schedule as our youth bell program, these youths will sing varied repertoire at LSUMC worship services.


    Members of these ensemble generally participate in LSUMC's United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF).


    All of our ministries involving children and youth adhere to our Safe Sanctuary Policy.

  • Children's Ensembles

    Age: 4K - 5th grade

    Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (September - December; February - April)

    Directors: variable by semester


    There are graded ringing/singing choirs for children at LSUMC, and participants are generally enrolled in our Wonderful Wednesday program. These children's ensembles usually lead music in worship on four Sundays every year - twice in the fall, and twice in the spring. They are also occasionally featured in concerts at Lyttleton Street and on invitation. The ensembles are:

    • Cherub Choir (age 4 - 1st grade)
    • Carol Choir (2nd - 5th grade)
    • Chime Choir (2nd grade)
    • Elementary Bells (two sections from grades 3-5, arranged by musical ability)
